The One with the poor rich kid

I've been out teaching in higher end private schools for a few months now,
and I've been on a continous lookout for poor kids I can invite to our NGO.

Amazingly the amount of fees the students pay are on the attendance sheet that i mark,
and there's one and only one student i have that has "free"on it.

I figured he was probably a poor student on scholarship with the school,
and i've been giving him compassionate looks and trying to talk with him more.

We had final oral exams this week and i finally had the chance to ask him about this.


"Say, out of curiosity, why does it say "free" under your name on the attendance sheet?"
"oh," he replied afer finally understanding my question (these ESL students...),
"well my uncle is the director of this school."

wonder what he makes of all the compassionate looks i've been giving him.
