Heartlander Juggler
had a gig yesterday at yishun.
realised i really like mingling with heartlanders.
while i haven't quite captured how to entertain pple at serious suit and tie events,
heartlanders are very easy to connect with.
So yesterday after i got suited up with the full clown costume,
with HUGE clown shoes and all,
i looked at myself and started giggling.
Just hours ago i was in the office doing high tech work,
and now i'm in a small stinking toilet in a full clown suit.
----------------------------------------------
I really enjoyed the event.
there were many kids and aunties around.
most of them stared at me like i just lost a dare.
so i had to explain why i was there, and started shouting "happy halloween!"
buit heartlanders are quite chinese right,
so i could see some confused faces.
but what the hell is halloween in chinese?
my level of mandarin has deteriorated unti i thought 屁股痒 was written as 屁股疡
Gd thing i checked with jen before sending out my email.
she was like "yang3 is the one with a goat inside. this is tang4"
"but my pinyin i wrote yang what"
"aiya your computer's mandarin is as bad as yours"
anyway,
"happy halloween" was translated to "星期五快乐"!
heartlanders are so great to be with.
make a baby smile, and the whole family smiles with the baby.
make a kid laugh, and the whole family laughs with the kid.
it's so cute. toddlers are way cute. so many things you can do with them cos they look so blur and innocent.
i even managed to make one grown up very pleased.
accidentally dropped the club when he walked by,
and i went "too handsome! cannot concentrate!"
he laughed and continued walking looking very pleased, his wife beside him wasn't that amused though.
it was a very satisfying gig.
i think to be able to make others smile and laugh is a wonderful thing,
not just for them but for yourself.
try it. it's satisfying.
and if you really go out and do one thing that deeply touches someone, i don't think you'll feel the same for the entire week.
--------------------------------------------------
in the first 10 min of my gig i was in trouble already.
i could feel the blister forming inside my foot.
so THAT's wHY they included knee length socks with the shoes.
i figured the socks can't be seen so i wore my own ankle socks.
MISTAKE.
After the gig i took off the shoe and saw the extent of the damage.
OUCH.
the blister on my right foot has burst and was abt 2cm long (and 0.8 cm wide)
the last time i had a damaged blister like that was when i went ice skating years ago.
and i never tried ice skating again.
bathing these days just got very exciting.
i was hopping around the toilet yesterday.
"ouch ouch ouch ouch, don't be a wuss, don't be a wuss. OW. OW. SHIT. OUCH."
i don't actually know what a "wuss" is, i hope it's not a bad word, but my colleague in alabama used to say that a lot.
i wondered how i managed to last an hour with a blister like that.
it must have been the adrenaline and the passion,
and that's quite heartwarming too i guess.
i have a mini blister on my left foot too,
and like those finger paper cuts,
the pain is super disproportional to the size of the cut.
So the left foot hurts too,
but once the pain from the right foot comes in, the left one is barely noticable.
so pain is relative.
that's something to be thankful for,
the super big blister hides the pain from the mini blister.
i'm getting warped.
blardy blister.
--------------------------------------------------
work is going ok.
like excercise,
it's satisfying to log in a good hard day's work.
usually we only get one project at one time,
but the planners for this one couldn't decide on the design,
so they ran BOTH designs.
and it's not just the casing that is different,
the electronics have to change to fit the casing,
so EVERYTHING is different and it's really 2 projects running under ONE name.
so the whole team is running 2 projects concurrently.
it's quite crazy.
i managed to get another technician so i have extra help,
but i'm still the bottleneck cos there's only one of me to look through all the results.
and i've been running around fighting fires here and there.
phew.
it's interesting.
---------------------------------
things are going ok at the moment.
a few itchy backside things coming up.
it should be fun.

Heh.. I pretty sure "happy halloween!" should be "万圣节快乐!"
but your translation is also correct.. albeit only for halloweens which falls on fridays
