i'm raring to get back to work.
too much to do and too little time.
hope i'm not becoming a workaholic.

The Tao of Soul

just watched american idol.
for the as yet un-informed, Bo is from this red dot on this side of the world.
i really like Carrie though, she's stiff but her voice is angelic.

i thought Carrie's duet with the guest idol is beautiful
and of course Bo sang Sweet Home Alabama which made me feel proud just to be in alabama

anyway,
the community support for Bo is strong here
and he looks like a nice guy with a lot of humility and loyalty to his hometown

it's just nice
to see everyone rooting for someone in their community like he's their own son
---------------------------------------------

HK asked me over msn how's life here
i just wrote whatever i felt like then but on hindsight i think what i wrote was very apt
this place really has a lot of "small town charm"

i then remembered i got that phrase from a lady i met on my very first day here
"this place is a place with big town facilities and small town charm" was what she said
and that's a great description
-----------------------------------------------

i got a college alumni magazine in my mailbox the other day
it was meant for the previous occupant in the apartment
i started reading the mag and i'm falling in love with the uni already
it's not even a perspectus which is designed to fake you into the college
it's a blardy alumni mag so i'm inclined to think it's not filled with fluff

i wonder why my college doesn't make me feel the same way
why despite their attempts to drum up alumni sentiments by building nice alumni club houses i'm still indifferent

it's the tao of soul
no amount of hardware can compensate for the lack of heartware
(oh i cringe that i actually wrote cheesy cliche used-to-death phrases like these. it's like some catchy "we're so smart we made the words rhyme!" slogan in a national campaign)

the contrast and parallels are just staring in my face

on one hand is my sleek ex-college, financial bigwig and not averse to announcing publicly their world standings and state of art whatever.
on the other hand is a college i never knew existed, and still dun know anything abt.
but just reading the alumni mag makes me feel for the college
how the president of the college stayed till 11pm in his office to work on a project with his students, and then they went out for dinner together ( he wrote this with pride cos the project won a national competition)
almost every article referenced the closeness with their profs at some point

i hardly rem some of my profs. and of the handful i rem half is remembered for negative reasons
in fact i'm so indifferent towards my own alumni mag i dun even know if i receive them!

the parallel?
the contrast between the colleges
is like the contrast between the singapore red dot and the red dot in alabama

no soul la brudder

World Juggling DAY 2005 in Singapore

Jimmyjuggler just released the program for WJD 2005.
it's in the links section.
it sounds like a lot of fun to be in and a lot of fun to watch
so if anyone is looking for something to do on June 17, 18 (fri, sat)
do head down to clarke quay at night (sat is the main night)

i'm glad that instead of having that "damn i wish i was there" negative vibe
i'm actually very excited and happy for the juggling folks back home
there'll be many more for years to come and i hope this will be a blast for everyone

i actually found a photo of myself in my cheongsam costume in the WJD program guide
but it's not very big so i dun think anyone can recognise that it's me
so just ignore that i said what i said

Musical Baton

it took me a while to realise what this is abt...kekeke
but i did so here it is:

Total Volume of Music Files on my Computer:

erm, none? heh heh. well actually all my files are in my mp3 player. not sure abt the exact volume but the player has 5 GB capacity and it's not full so the answer is <5gb.

The Last CD I Bought Was:

it's more than 7 months since i bought a CD and i can't remember. (and i'm trying very hard to recall)

Song Playing Right Now:

Duracell Battery Jingle from my 5 dollar radio

Five Songs i listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

i'm sure come tomorrow i'll change my mind, but for now here are the 5 that come to mind.

  • Surfin Bird by the Trashmen (the song that started it all. and the only one that lasted through the entire journey from The Birds to Momoko-Chan to the Pink Flamingos)
  • Riverdance Theme (one day....something extraordinary will come out of this)
  • Go West by The Pet Shop Boys (my special song since 12)
  • Reflections of Passion by Yanni ( "everything great that was created by Mankind, began as a single thought. and we're all capable of such a thought, because, we, are... all ...the.... same.")
  • Imitation of Life by REM

This lightning storm This tidal wave This avalanche, I'm not afraid. C'mon, c'mon no one can see me cry.
That sugar cane that tasted good. That's who you are, that's what you could. C'mon, c'mon on no one can see you cry.

Five People to Whom I'm Passing the Baton:

i'm afraid i only know 2 other fellow bloggers who come here occasionally, so i shall send THREE batons to physicalpoet and TWO batons to pinkeggyolk!!

Baton Received From:

http://diodati.omniscientx.com/2005/05/24/musical-baton/

i wonder who that is.....*wink*

---------------------------------------------

Boon Says:

"You've tried almost everything now....almost"

so i've got my first cigarette.

i've got my first car accident.

come saturday i'm gonna get myself another first. kekekekekekekekkekeek.

stay tuned. hahahahahah.

i'm not kidding.

pinkeggyolk is spelt wrongly in the post, and that link is thus broken. the jimmyjuggler link in your "links" is also broken because of the trailing "/" added.

this matters less, but it's "sleek", and "averse".

looks like WJD coincides with MINDEF PRIDE Day! there's no doubt which is going to be more interesting...
