I hereby Declare WAR.....on myself
reality hits,
when you haven't seen your dad for 5 months
and the first thing he said at the airport was
"wah you very fat now ah"
while looking at you weirdly.
all the delusions of the detergent shrinking my clothes and weighing more cos i'm nearer the north pole disappeared with a poof!
so i hereby declare myself on a diet
and like juggling
it's gonna be a painful process, but ultimately rewarding
of course that's what i thought abt unicycling, which i never managed to conquer
damn it
let's see which path this diet takes
----------------------------------------
we went down to the food court at the mall
("we" being me and dad, not me and my fat)
and the chinese folks at the stall there said i look like deng xiaoping
DENG XIAOPING??????!!!

my first thought was "what happened to my hair??!!"
but then on clarification i found out they said deng yaping.
now i have no idea who deng yaping is
but i can imagine her to be quite plump
quick search on google throws me this photo

which i think actually bears some resemblence
dad couldn't stop laughing at the picture
-------------------------------------------------
i could have started my diet last week
but dad was around
and he was telling me how i should just eat fruits for dinner
while munching honey coated deep fried peanuts
"peanuts not fat one"
so i've decided to turn vegetarian
because not eating meat eliminates a lot of fattening food
and i'll watch the carbs since i'm on a diet
which leaves me with just grass to eat
yesterday marks the first day without meat
like a smoker trying to quit
let's see how long my abstinence lasts
my lack of interest in cooking
means my healthy home cooked meals taste just like healthy home cooked meals - horrible
but it's also a blessing in a way
i can't bear to handle raw meat
it just looks too much like flesh
and mince meat look like worms
so not wanting to cook meat is easy
and of course i have all my "animal cruelty" videos to help strengthen my resolve
physicalpoet are you still a vegan?
any tips on how to make veggies not taste like veggies? (no deep fried oily tau gua please)
let's see how long this lasts
i think being vegetarian is beneficial not only physically,
but mentally and spiritually as well
so it's actually good
yes, good good
very good
---------------------------------------------------
Cathedral Caverns
dad and i drove down to the cave on wednesday
it holds 4 world records for having the largest natural cave entrance, the largest column, the largest stalagmite forest and the largest frozen waterfall i think
(jialu are you tempted to fly over now? you'll like it! keke)
it took us one hour to drive there
that itself was an adventure in my $1800 car
it could hardly climb the slopes of the hilly roads
(resulting embarassingly in a long queue of cars behind me)
and the steering wheel was vibrating half the time
the car mechanic we went to the day before
also warned us that my engine belts were cracking
how exciting
also bear in mind
that me being the wonderful driver that i am
was turning curves at great speed and swerving everywhere and going "wwwhhhoooaa"
dad wasn't too impressed i would imagine
PLUS
the cave was situated in another city so i was totally unfamiliar with the roads
and i was too cheapskate to buy a map
so i printed out directions from the internet
and i forgot to print directions BACK from the cave
we managed to find our way
it was kind of fun.
"that house looks nice ah.WWWWWHHHHOOOAAAA"
"i think you should just keep your eyes on the road"
(jialu are you tempted to fly over now? keke)
anyhow the cave was nice
it was huge, going in all the way till abt 1 km
and there were pretty stalagmites and stalactites all along the way
glowing mysteriously in the dim lighting
a sight to behold
I imagine this would be disneyland to Mr gomez
------------------------------------------
And now we have SEVEN
i went out to cut my hair yesterday
i came back with 4 more baseball bats
now what the hell am i gonna do with SEVEN baseball bats???
in my defence
my 4 new children
are much smaller and lighter than the first 3 buffalos
so they're much easier to juggle
i like them so far
haven't got the chance to really juggle them cos it was too blardy windy and cold yesterday
hey it could have been EIGHT ok
----------------------------------------------
speaking of the weather
last week it was hot like hell
dad was like "if this is spring can you imagine summer?"
and these 2 days it suddenly dropped to 15 celsius
because of some cold north wind
so me being the wonderful turtle who doesn't watch news nor read papers
gung ho went out with short sleeves and left my jacket home
damn it
kana played out
maybe that's what spring means
it's not that the temperature is between winter and summer
it's that half the week it's cold like winter and half it's hot like summer
---------------------------------------------
Uncontrolled Chaos
when there's nothing to do there's nothing to do
when it's busy everything suddenly comes together at one go
2 weeks ago the 3 singaporeans came by
last week dad popped by
this week another singaporean is coming
next week i have a training class
and then i have to move to another apartment
me being the introvert*
thinks being with people is fun, but still tiring
i sort of like routines
with me adding in changes at my own pace to spice up the mundane
i call it controlled chaos
it's not uncontrollable yet
but it just might spiral out of control
*my interpretation of introvert is as i've learnt in sec 4 (?) during the Myers-Briggs personality test. it's where you get your energy source from. An introvert rejuvenates by spending time alone, an extrovert gets energy from company. it doesn't mean an introvert can't be sociable and can only be happy as a librarian, it just means she can enjoy being with pple but needs time alone to rest.
i think it's an interesting interpretation and gives a lot of insight to how pple function
steph for one is a true blue extrovert
she has a fight with her bf and first thing she does is find pple to hang out with to feel better
it's a wonder how we became best friends in sec sch
(she refuses to believe i'm an introvert)
I think the personality test said my ideal career is to be a rabbi.
(weips kindly told me that it's pronounced as "rare-bye" not "rare-bee" and no it's an actual word they were not mis-spelling "rabbit".)
----------------------------------------------------
Religion: Laughing Buddhist

that's kind of cool isn't it
to put it down as a religion
i think what the Laughing Buddha symbolises is inspiring
a picture of contentment
with few clothes on his back
and just a haversack
he is the poorest of the poor
but yet the richest of the rich
always smiling
always happy
everything in his stride
tian1 ta1 xia4 lai2 dang1 bei4 gai4
-----------------------------------
this is of course just a surface interpretation
some quick googling gives me a lot of chim chim stories abt the laughing buddha
so i'm not a serious student
and thus i dare not call myself a laughing buddhist
i did read some stuff abt how his haversack contains goodies for children
which he'll give out willingly when he meets them
there's something abt zen and children
hmm. maybe they hold the key to happiness.
(i realise the irony that in the very post i talk abt contentment i also talk abt losing weight. I can hide behind contentment and leave my fat alone. oh wait, to be content does not mean to stop striving for improvment. ah, so desu.)
---------------------------------------------------------
What Teachers Want
to my many friends who were/are now/in future trying very hard not to curse and swear in practicum
i present to you the stamp you've been waiting for

(obtained from a link in acidflask's blog)
get yourself one and stamp with aplomb
you know you want to
go ahead and release the devil in you
i should probably use this stamp for my blog posts too
